word for the year

okay i read a challenge by the talented ali edwards. this is part of what she said in her newsletter, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."

this is the challenge part, "Last year I began a tradition of chosing one word for myself each January - a word that I can focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life. Last year my word was something I wanted to bring into my life in a more tangible way. My word was play. I thought a lot about play and what it means to me. I tried to incorporate it more into my everyday and on my adventures out in the crazy world. For me, it was a lot about living without fear - about being more open to experiences with an attitude of playfulness. The word play found its way onto many scrapbook pages and into many stories I told throughout the year."
she just puts it into words so much better than i would! well i decided to take this challenge. i still have some goals that i really want to accomplish this year. i decided that having one word in the back of my mind at all times will help me to focus and remember those things.
it was hard to pick just one word! at first i thought my word would be SIMPLIFY. i still will try to do that this year. it just wasn't fitting for me. so i continued to think of what that one word would be for me. it came to me in a conversation with a good friend. it just hit me and new that would be my word! it's not anything original, but i know it will be great for me! so my word is
ENJOY
i've already had some fun experiences with it! it's truely amazing how much difference just 1 word can make in how you look at things! i'm going to post about one of the cute little stories tomorrow that happened with aliya. i just wanted to post pictures with it! i've also quickly learned that this one little word is affecting how i deal with others. i had to get up early yesterday to be at the store for a class. saturday just happens to be trash day for us. that isn't something i usually stay on top of. craig or kameron usually take care of that. well kameron was at his dads and craig was still sleeping. so i decided that it would be something that craig would enjoy. so i made sure all the trash was emptied in the house and the garbage can was taken to the curb. it was something small that only took about 5 extra minutes. well i found out later in the day that he woke up to the sound of the garbage truck and got up to check out the window to make sure it was the garbage man. yep it was, but he was happy to see that our can had already been taken to the curb.
it's just these small things that occur that make me feel like this will make a difference not only for me but hopefully for others that i come in contact with!
tomorrow i'm going to be working on a journal for some pages for the year that will remind me of this challenge and hopefully for other challenges that ali will give! hopefully i'll be able to get that posted!
so if you have the time and want to try something different then think of one word that you could use during the year to change your life! i'm looking forward to this and to seeing how others do with there choices!
sorry for such a long post! have a wonderful week and ENJOY the small things!
